An informal term that might be used as another name for the Age of Invasions, but usually refers to the latter half of the First Century a.a.H. and the opening decades of the Second Century a.a.H. (50 - 120 a.a.H). The world was beset with an immense number of natural disasters at this time. The world itself changing as lands raised up out of the sea or submerged, or changed. The calamities were so profound so as to chaotically upend the peoples of Aiers.

Global Devastation[]

The Age of Calamities seem to be related to the Apparition of Humanity upon the world.

The 'Knock Out' of a global empire[]

Some fifty years following the arrival of the humans, a long series of calamities afflicted the world, for about seventy years until ca. 120 a.a.H. Earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis would strike again and again. Much maritime trade and culture was brought to a standstill, and the cities that stood near the shores or geologically active places of the planet were commonly destroyed in waves or flame.

The High elves' Empire of Whide Axis which was about to investigate the humans in detail during the First Century was instead left reeling. Its ability to send ships almost paralyzed as its proud colonies world wide often suffered, withered and died as they were often near shores and reliant on trade, but found themselves shook, inundated, and almost certainly cut off from regular maritime trade for a long time.

The High Elves were hardly alone to suffer, as any coastal area might be at risk. But the High elves had indeed, been the ones to seize most of the world's favorable coasts in previous centuries from various cultures of the blue skinned Zuleis elves in particular in their Elf wars.

Some coastal regions were raised up, ending far inland at raised elevations as the Hieyoks Continent, in particular rose up and increased in size. Some other areas might subside, submerging land, or lands were inundated by these raising and lowering of continents and the earthquakes that accompanied such shifting of the planet's crust.

Kazrrad[]

The underworld itself suffered and changed as the result of earthquakes taking place in this time. The most southern regions of the underworld deep in Zarhuy were collapsed or cut off. Also, remaining regions of south Kazrrad would also be nearly cut off due to collapse of tunnels, or great cracks. Dwarfs and Drow of the south of Kazrrad would become separated from those of further north, or at least semi-isolated for a time.

Effects that led to Invasions[]

The world was essentially upended by this seventy years of global transformation. The Empire of Whide Axis was greatly weakened with colonies destroyed or decimated. Shaking of the continents, particularly in Hieyoks, took place well in the hinterland. Ecologies would change as new land was created, and previously existing lands were disturbed by volcanoes, raising elevations, and lands that were formerly wetter, dried out such as in multiple regions of Zarhuy.

Nomadic, or many previously settled people that had become nomadic, explored new lands, sometimes in desperation. Invasions of lands with settled peoples was inevitable, and such invasions were often successful. The migrants existed in far greater numbers than before, and the folk that remained settled were greatly weakened by decades of earthquakes and other disasters.

The Cataclysm[]

Many centuries later, in the 27th Century, 2675 to about 2700 a.a.H., the world of Aiers would experience a second, shorter, but even more intensive and violent episode of global transformation where the remaining continents were changed, largely by subsidence this time.

The Underworld of Kazrrad that largely lies beneath the much changed continent of Aels, would be effectively destroyed in this second occurrence of global upheavals.

Some have questioned if there is a relation between the 'The Cataclysm' and the earlier 'Age of Calamities'.
