Maximal Extension of the Caliphate of the Orange Sun of Blazakhov

The Caliphate of the Orange Sun of Blazakhov (Bazik: الخلافة من البرتقال الشمس, Trans. Al-Ḫilāfat al-ʾBlazakhyya) was a kanov-human nation in Zarhuy. This caliphate was centered on the ancient Kanov city of Zarhuy, Cargass, of Blazakhov, which remained the Blazakgovian's main base of power thereafter, and Cargass their capital. The Blazakhovians continued muslims conquests and expansion, bassed on the religion and trade, incorporating territories in Zarhuy, Hieyoks, the Tok Sea, Aels and later, Ushaenor into the Muslim world. 

At its greatest extent, the Caliphate of the Orange Sun was the largest empire the world had yet seen. 

At the time, the Blazakhovian taxation and administrative practice were perceived as unjust by some Muslims. The non-Muslim population had autonomy; their judicial matters were dealt with in accordance with their own laws and by their own religious heads or their appointees, although they did pay a poll tax for policing to the central state. There was as well a welfare state for both the Muslim and the non-Muslim poor. The relations between the Muslims and the Christians in the state were good for most of it's history, until the Holy Wars of Eden and the rule of some specific caliphs. In the same way, while prominently a Kanov state, they had good relations with other humans -and a bit to a lesser degree, to non-humans, being more important religion than race.- Prominent positions were held by christians, and as well by non-humans. The employment of Christians and non-humans was part of a broader policy of religious and racial tolerance that was necessitated by the presence of large Christian human/kanov and non-human populations in the conquered provinces.

The rivalries between the Kanov tribes had caused unrest in the provinces outside Blazakhov. As the constant campaigning exhausted the resources and manpower of the state, the Blazakhovians suffered several disasters, and there where several changes of dinasties, as one was toppled by other, but where capable of retaining their Blazakhovian identity. 

The Caliphate of the Orange Sun was founded at the 1911 a.a.H, around the core of one of the oldest Kanov cities (Cargass, or Blazakhov).

The Cargassí were Carutes Kanovs, and as such related to the Baziks, Im'Salanos, Hamios, Umenios, Carutez, Tumvaros and Dannu.

An Unending Conflict Crossing the Sea of Caritz

Blazakhov, with a long history of almost 22 centuries, lived many changes, but for a great time what marked it was the conflict, between Zarhuy and Aels: First the human-kanov wars, then Dumian-Blazakhovian (and Unlic-Blazakhovian) and then, Muslim-Christian, seen by either themselves (and their long time enemies of Uslen) as mutual enemies, and even with the rise of the Dark Legion of Demons, while they would fight as occasional allies, much more often was the conflict.

Origins

While the Caliphate was founded at the 1911 a.a.H, the origins of it's power are related to the old city of Cargass, a Kanov nation. Cargass was found at the 400 a.a.H, and as soon as the 689 they began founding colonies in the south-west islands of Aels -the islands of Mercania, which will be the beginning of their imperial traditions. In this expansion, they will face the Empire of Dume in tthe three Blazik wars, between the 936 to the 1054 a.a.H, with ended with Cargass and Blazakhov under Dumian rule until the year 1560 a.a.H, when once more time they became independent. The pagan Kanov of Cargass will then face the expansion of the Islam, clashing with the humans. While it was a human-kanov conflict, the blazik will resit, but as other Kanovs converted to the islam and the racial aspect of the conflict was difused, the cargassí began to convert, becoming muslims. As the islam became the official religion of Cargass, having under it's hegemony the other blazik cities, they will create at the 1911 a.a.H the Caliphate of the Orange Sun of Blazakhov, meaning a social and political reestructuration of the talasocratic Cargass into a monarchy ruled by a caliph, using the Orange Sun, traditional national symbol of Blazakhov, in their banners.

History

With the fundation of the Caliphate, Al-Tobiyah, first caliph of the Caliphate and founder of the Al-Tobiyah's personal dynasty, reigned from 1911 to the 1934, until his grandson Al-Tobiyah II. The reign of Al-Tobiyah I was marked by internal security and external expansion.

Al-Tobiyah I also encouraged peaceful coexistence with the christian communities of Zarhuy, granting his reign with "peace and prosperity for Christians and Muslims alike". At the same time, he waged unceasing war against the Unlic Empire of Unlic Empire of Uslen. During his reign, some islands in the sea of Caritz where occipied, and several assaults were launched against coastal Uslen. After their failure, and faced with a large-scale Christian uprising in their territories, Al-Tobiyah concluded a peace with Uslen. Al-Tobiyah also oversaw military expansion in North Zarhuy and central Hieyoks.

Following Al-Tabiyah's death in 1930, he was succeeded by his son, Fazid I. The hereditary accession of Fazid was opposed by a number of prominent Muslims, resulting in a civil war, that ended with the first change of dinasty, to the Marwenids.

Marwen's first task was to assert his authority against the rival claims of ofter pretenders of the caliphate, who were at that time recognized as caliph throughout most of the Caliphate. Marwen recaptured Hamion for the Blazik, but died in 1935, having reigned for only nine months.

Marwen was succeeded by his son, Abd al-Marw (1935–1955), who reconsolidated the cargassí control of the caliphate.

Abd al-Marw is credited with centralizing the administration of the Caliphate and with establishing Bazik as its official language. He also introduced a uniquely Muslim coinage, marked by its aniconic decoration, which supplanted the Unlic and Farsian coins that had previously been in use. Abd al-Marw also recommenced offensive warfare against Uslen, defeating the Unlics in Caritz and recovering control over Near Hieyoks.

Following Abd al-Marw's death, his son, Al-Wendi I (1955-1965), became caliph. Al-Wend was also active as a builder, sponsoring the construction of many monuments.

Al-Marw was succeeded by his brother, Aymaht (1965–1967), whose reign was dominated by the failed wars against Uslen and Titipopolis-. The failure of the siege marked the end of serious blazakhovian ambitions against the Unlic capital for centuries. However, the first two decades of the XX century witnessed the continuing expansion of the Caliphate, which pushed into the West Zarhuy and in western Hieyoks in the east.

Aymath was succeeded by his cousin, Umar ibn Abdrik. Umar is honored for his attempt to resolve the fiscal problems attendant upon conversion to Islam. During this first period, the majority of people living within the caliphate were not Muslim, but christian, jews or members of other religions. These religious communities were not forced to convert to Islam, but were subject to a tax (jizyah) which was not imposed upon Muslims. This situation may actually have made widespread conversion to Islam undesirable from the point of view of state revenue, and there are reports that provincial governors actively discouraged such conversions. It is not clear how Umar attempted to resolve this situation, but the sources portray him as having insisted on like treatment of human, kanov and non-human, and on the removal of obstacles to the conversion to Islam.

The sucessors of Umar attempted to continue the expansion of Blazakhov, but they reached the limits of their expansion by the 2000 a.a.H, and in fact the Blazakhovian power crumbled in many of their provinces, suffering defeats against the Unlic in Aels, in the west in Zarhuy and in the east in Hieyoks and the sea of Tok.

This lead to a weakening of the Marwenid dinasty, which at the 2047 a.a.H was overthrowed by the Nassid in a bloody civil war, which lead to a new dinasty to be founded -the Nassid dinasty.

Some scholars argues that the reasons for the decline of the Marwenid was the rapid expansion of Islam. During Marwenid period, mass conversions brought many peoples to Islam. These mawalis (clients) new converts, on the basis of equality of all Muslims, transformed the political landscape, and as well is pointhed that some rivalries and feuds between Cargass and other ancient Blazakhovian cities further weakened the empire.

It will be during the reign of the Nassid dinasty that will beginn the First War of the Power at the 2203 a.a.H. While initially the muslim world wasn't involved, the successes of the Dark Legion in Aels made them to decide to extend their campaigns to Zarhuy and Near Hieyoks, which will make the Caliphate of The Orange Sun raise their banners against the dark legion in the seas of Caritz and Tok. At the 2219 a.a.H, Blazakhov will conquer the islands of Mercania in the sea of Caritz, defeating the Dark Legion of Demons in the Battle of Cabbas -2219 a.a.H-, which will mark the end of this scenario of the First War of the Power.

Legacy

The Blazakhovian caliphate was marked both by territorial expansion and by the administrative and cultural problems that such expansion created. Despite some notable exceptions, the Cargassi tended to favor the rights of the old Blazakhovian families, over those of newly converted Muslims (mawali). Therefore they held to a less universalist conception of Islam than did many of their rivals, being less driven by the interest of religious expansion.

During the period of the Blazakhovians, Bazik became the administrative language. State documents and currency were issued in the language. Mass conversions brought a large influx of Muslims to the caliphate. The Blazakgovians also constructed several famous buildings and monuments.

As well it's said to have been the larger and more succesful Kanov empire of Aiers, but this Kanov identity was diluted with the centuries

The Blazakhovians have met with a largely negative reception from later Islamic historians, who have accused them of promoting a kingship (mulk, a term with connotations of tyranny) instead of a true caliphate (khilafa), as well for their mercantilization, successors of the talasocracy of the old blazahovian cities.

Modern Bazik nationalism regards the period of the Blazakhovian as part of the Blazik and later Bazik Golden Age which it sought to emulate and restore such in later alliances as the ALBA, LSB and the RFB.
