First war of the power by shabazik-d3cflvl

Belád Bonceduil, a High Elf soldier of the Empire of Whide Axis fighting forces of the Dark Legion. Most prominently, a Green Orc, Ozcura Orc and a Polforian Kanov

The First War of the Power, was the first of the three Wars of the Power and was fought between the 2.203 until 2.223 since the aparition of the Humans (a.a.H).

Since the beginning of the human age (the year 1 of the a.a.H), the apparition of the humans became a factor of instability in the world of Aiers, triggering what will be called the Age of Invasions, or as well known as the Early Human Age.

In the beginning, the settlement of Humans was somewhat pacific, but produced a series of migrations -which produced as well more invasions and migrations- which made the High Elven Empire, the Empire of Whide Axis crumble, this empire of the High elves extended between Ushaenor, Aels and Zarhuy.

Despite the severe setback suffered by the humans by the sudden destruction of their civilization the 100 a.a.H, 300 years later, by the 400 a.a.H. began the process of human expansion, which will last until the contemporary times.

The Humans and their Kanov cousins migrated from Zarhuy to Aels and Hieyoks, pushing away the previous settlers and native inhabitants, or incorporating them into their new nations and kingdoms.

The more competitive, numerous and fierce Kanov and Humans quickly took possession of the better lands for their economic production based in farms and livestock:

However, once it was sorted the Human and Kanov preeminence in some of the more important territories, began the conflict between the Kanovs and the Humans, being Polforia an excellent example, where the wars, skirmishes and weak periods of peace will exist in quick succession since the 500 a.a.H.

Meanwhile in the south, human nations as Aegyus, Farsia, Uslen and Dume will rise, combat each other and fall for the hegemony of the Sea of Caritz, adding to this Kanov nations like Blazakhov.

Dume, a human republic since the 691, and with the passing of centuries became the largest and most powerful Empire of Caritz, when in an island in the middle of the Dumian Empire, an unknown and new threat appeared:

The Daimons.

The 1.365, after an eruption of the Mount Satanmet in the Island of Demonatch, the Daimons (or demons) suddenly appeared, and they destroyed the rich commercial cities of the island, compromising the Aels-Caritz-Hieyoks trade routes.

The Dumian Empire sent an army to defeat the newcomers, but the successive attempts in conquering the island failed: And so, slowly, the rising power of the Demonic Republic began to expand:

the 1398, the Nigromante conquered the islands of Tok-Thoria from the Dumian Empire, and since the 1.400, the raids and attacks of demons over the lands of the empire will become constant, and a series of wars will be fought.

However, despite their decadence and division, the dumian general Aercos finally defeated partially the demons in the 1.500 a.a.H., forcing them to abandon Demonatch, and migrate to the north of Aels:

However, the demon-human rivalry continued, and the Demonic Republic regrouped their forces and focused their attacks in the Human-Kanov Vakkusta Empire:

However, their numbers weakened, the Daimons signed the first of the many treaties and alliances they will sign in their story: Allied with humans, kanovs and other species, enemies of the Vakkusta Empire, they orchestrated the fall of the Vakkustas...

And then, they unleashed their barbarian, monsters and their own forces, united under the banner of the Dark Legion, against the Northern Dumian Empire:

Dume, the capitol of the city, will finally fall the 1.676 a.a.H., giving to origin the Dark Age of Demons.

However, the victory of the Demonic Republic was also its end, as in the following years the powerful generals who gained importance in the war will create their own kingdoms, being the major -nominal- Emperor of Demons Sataan, who settled in Polforia.

However, to dominate the disputed territory of Polforia wasn't easy, less with the need to not only fight humans and kanovs, but as well competing demonic states.

However, the 1.869 a.a.H., Sataan conquered most of  Polforia, ending the Kanovhook wars, and then with his power consolidated, began to plan the next step: to conquer all Polforia, as well the Human kingdoms in Sargos and the Unlic Empire of Uslen.

Until the 2.203, the beginning of the "Great War of the Power", the demons fought a series of minor wars, signed alliances and occupied territories:

They united once again, under their Dark Banner, the Dark Legion:

A union of all the species, races, nations and tribes enemies of the Humans, who were expelled of their original lands, killed and raided by them, or who simply feared the human expansion and their aggressive ways of imposing their culture and religion by force or annexation.

The Dark Legion of Demons was viewed as the reunion of the "Free Nations" against the evil power and oppression of the humans...

Finally, when Sataan and his main generals, as Satman, Bael, Paimon, Paprika, the Nigromante of Tok-Thoria, the Witch King of Dol-Nur and others decided they massed enough forces, it was time to begin the war...

Outbreak of the warEdit

the 2.203 a.a.H, the Dark Legion was ready: Demons, Kanovs, human vassals, blood elves, drows, dwarves, beast people, orcs, harpies, gargoyles, trolls, goblins, giants, fauns, Hattak, ozcuras, lycanthropes and all the forces were ready, concentrated in two principal forces:

Morod in Polforia, commanded by Sataan himself, and Hortann, the defiled "sacred mountain", under the orders of the right hand, Satman, in southern Aels.

The first move of Sataan had to be against the Amazon tribes of the north -Nortender, Helzig and Hieyokscream-: this opening movement was important to the Dark Legion's plans, in order to guard their rear and avoid other future warfront that will be like a spine in the flank of the Dark Legion, to control all of Polforia and to use the mountain passes of Navatiak to fall over the North-western Christian human kingdoms.

As well, Sataan knew that the amazons, who had been fighting the demons since their arrival, would fight against the demons once they attacked the north-western human kingdoms: but, the northwestern human kingdoms wouldn't lift a finger for the amazon tribes, too distant and too foreign.

The Amazon tribes resistance was brave, but they were outmatched by the vast legions of the demons, and will be quickly defeated by the Dark Legion in a short but bloody campaign. The last stand will be held by the amazon Queendom of Priva in the Battle of Priva. After this, only remnants of amazon forces will remain in the region, scattered, while the demon-worshipper amazons tribes of Helzar will become an amazon empire.

The north western kingdoms of humanity didn't took notice of the events, as for them this was just other campaign of the demons, as they were centered in their petty quarrels: and so, before they were ready, all the human Christian North-west of Aels was flooded by the Dark Legion, crossing their armies in Navatiak and the Degoland pass:

Demonic PhaseEdit

One by one, the human kingdoms of Degoland, Sargos, Huncle, La Cruz and Botania, fell to the incomparable tide of the Dark Legion:

In Battle of Degoland the Degoland army fought alone against the Dark legions, as the Sargonic waited behind the Osorio river, hoping that the river would be enough barrier to stop them -being mistaken, and defeated as the Dark Legion crossed the Osorio and defeated the armies of Sargos in the Battle of Sargos. As the two kingdoms of the Osorio Valley fell, the kings of the west thought this would be the end of the demonic offensive, and while they reinforced their armies and fortresses, they didn't try to make a common front against such a powerful enemy.

Meanwhile, in the south, Satman sent a fraction of his army to Iperto -Battle of Iperto, while his main forces attacked the more powerful human kingdom of central Aels, Purpurian, defeating them after a much more harder campaign that will culminate in the Battle of Purpurian.

After that, the Dark Legion continued with the assault of the human pagans of Enkel, who resisted with guerrilla warfare, much for Satman's frustration, who, unable to win a decisive battle, turned the mass of his forces against the Empire of Uslen.

In the northern front, the demonic forces who crossed at the Navatiak Pass -delayed due the resistance of the Dwarven Mines of the north, in the Battle of Navatiak, arrived and began sacking the northern marks of Huncle, while other armies crossed the Oster Gate, sacking and destroying Huncle on their path. Against this, the armies of Huncle tried to face the dark legions, being defeated in the Battle of Huncle. This finally made the humans kings of the north-west realize the danger of the situation: this wasn't just other demonic campaign, but a war for which the dark legion had for long prepared.

The remnants of the armies of Huncle retreated to the south, to Trebol -a region that had been since the War of the Clover occupied by Sargos, where they joined the forces of the Military Order of Trebol and survivors of the sargonic and degoland armies: but closely followed by the dark legions, these armies marched to the south, to gather with the forces of the kings of La Cruz and Tardos, as well the forces of the Archbishopry of Karentia. The Order of the Clover stood in their castles, trying to delay the advance of the dark legions from the north.

But the armies that advanced from the east fall over the forces of Tardos and La Cruz at the meeting point before the human Christian armies had gathered, defeating them completely. Later, when the forces of Karentia arrived, they were surprised to find instead of allied armies, the dark legions, being defeated as well. And in the same day, will arrive exhausted from their march the remnants of the armies of Huncle and Sargos. There, after the battle begun, the cavalry of Huncle will retreat, leaving their infantry on their own, and being their king captured by the Dark legion: these three successive battles are known collectively as the Battle of La Cruz.

After this battle, the Dark Legion took a long time besieging and suppressing all the resistance points they had left behind in their initial assault, which would ultimately give time for the north-western humans to re-group their forces in La Cruz and Tardos, receiving supplies and support from Akresh and the Empire of Uslen. However, as the armies of Satanment began in the south the campaigns against Uslen, their support to the north will fall.

In Tardos, the last major battle in the north in this phase of the war, the armies of humankind will be one more time routed. Tardos, and later Botania, would fall.

In the south, the Siege of Titipopolis and the fall of the city, will mark the end of the Unlic campaign of Satman:

Between the 2.203 and the 2.208, all the main human kingdoms of Aels had fallen, and only existed as pocket of resistance the remnants and the weaker kingdoms.

It was like the "Confederation of Free Nations", the official name of the enemies of Humanity of the Dark Legion had succeeded in re-taking their lands and defeating the human menace...

Because of this, the Dark Legion proceeded to send forces to establish their hegemony over all Aels, sending emissaries and if that failed, their armies: in one of such campaigns, three armies of the Dark legion who marched against the High elves of Lorthen, disappeared in the forests of Nubla and Bierteno, in what would be called the Lost Battle of the Forests.

Despite these pockets of resistance, it seemed clear the victory of the Demons.

However, some Sargonic refugees, who escaped from the fall of the Kingdom of Sargos who escaped to the island of Liohn, fearing that even there the Dark Legion could reach them, or the local subjugated population of Grey elfs could betray them, sent some expeditions to discover a new safe haven for themselves:

And so, they discovered the Continent of Ushaenor, and they found the High Elven Empire of Whide Axis.

Elven PhaseEdit

It is quite unclear what determined the High elves of Ushaenor to not only receive the humans and refugees, but to join them in the War of the Power: Commercial interests, revanchism or interests in retaking for them back the long ago lost colonies of Aels, the point is that after lengthy discussions, the Venerable Empire of Whide Axis entered the war the 2.209 a.a.H.:

A new, massive expedition was prepared in what will become the last High Elven 'crusade': the last and largest campaign they ever launched.

A massive High (and ash) Elven nautical force, reinforced with human refugees of Aels and humans of Ushaenor crossed the sea.

After recruiting reinforcements and mercenaries in islands like Akresh and Liohn, the expedition landed in Botania, where more local human forces will join the army of the Venerable Empire of Whide Axis, raising the forces of this combined army to 140.000 soldiers.

The arrival of the new enemy took by surprise the Dark Legion, and with their forces spread over the conquered territories previously captured in the war, so when the Whide Axis marched to the south, they encountered and destroyed several smaller fractions of the Dark Legion.

The Elven commanders, following the advice of Akresh mercenaries rather than their Sargonic allies -in which they never truly trusted- decided to march to the south, to liberate the larger human kingdoms of Aels, where they would be able to reinforce their forces before the assault of Polforia.

In Barlans, Bultr bridge, Dol-Sorne, the sands of Iperto and Aldehidy, the Whide Axis defeated several armies of the Dark Legion. - Battle of the Cold Plains, Battle of the Bultr Bridge and the Battle of the Deserts being the main ones-.

The 2.213, they began the siege of the fortress of Satman in Hortann, meanwhile reinforcements conscripted in Uslen joined their ranks, and human-Kanovs from Farsia and Blazakhov attacked from the south the forces of Satman and the Nigromante of Tok-Thoria.

After the victory in the Siege of Hortann, the army of the Whide Axis marched to the north, fighting and defeating the Dark Legion in Gnomia, the Battle of the Titanizk Mountains, the Battle of the Roaring Steppes, the wall of the Dargoina Mountains of Olga's Wall in the Battle of Montes Cado, entering in the demonic lands in Polforia:

In one of the last battles in Polforia -the Battle of Polforia, the dark legion was once again defeated, and the 2.221 the Whide Axis began the Siege of Dol-Nur, the largest demonic fortress, which will fall only the 2.223 a.a.H.

Peace, 2223 a.a.H.Edit

Dol-Nur finally fell: almost 3 years of siege were needed, but in the end the major demons as Sataan and Satman were captured, and the Dark Legion was dispersed: not completely defeated, but disbanded and without the major generals, the only ones who could unify such a heterogenous force as the Dark Legion of Demons was:

As a solution, the wise men and wizards of the Empire of Whide Axis decided that even if they killed the Great Demons, they wouldn't be able to stop them from rising again, so they brought the prisoners back to the Island of Demonatch, where everything began, and they sealed with their most powerful magic the demons, once again, inside the Mount Satanmet...

After the WarEdit

The Venerable Empire of Whide Axis, one of the main belligerents in the conflict, found itself without an Emperor, with the loss of Altarin. While Altarin followers tried to back up the claim of Saerchanar the Fake, the Empire didn't had an emperor, and quick fell in the divisions of Purple and White parties: The campaign of Aels was truly the last epic of the Empire of Whide Axis, and since Altarin, it began it's long and slow decline.

In principle, the victors had ambitious plans to claim the former demonic realms, founding colonies in Polforia, beginning colonisation efforts that will result in the creation of the Polforian states of the Outregam in Polforia.

However, lack of support by the High elves, division among humans and the rise of Remnants of the Dark Legion, will doom these realms to fail.

The Five Kingdoms of the Northwest, soon after began yet other cycle of violence of man against man, as Sargos claimed Trebol from Huncle, occupying the territory, in the Ducal Wars of Trebol.

Meanwhile in Polforia, Tok-Thoria and Hortann, the lieutenants of the great demon lords who had escaped capture, plotted their revenge, and thought this was going to be their opportunity to become rulers in their own.
