The Lantanidos, Lantánidos, Lantanidan, Lanths or Lanthanide was a Zuleis Flairie Dark Elf group from southern Aels, who will form the Lantanidan Empire or Lantania.

At first, the Lantanidan peoples were located in the peninsula of Uslen, south to the Holy Mountain of Hortann and north to the Koyonko Zuleis groups.

The lantanidan comprised fifteen tribes, from the Lantanian to the Luthe. These fifteen Lantanidan tribes, along with the culturally similar tribes of the Koyonko and Yttry, were often collectively known as the southern Flairie, or as well due to the later cultural evolution, as the proto-Unnline.

While originally different peoples, they are termed as lantanidos because the cultural elements in the tribes similar to he Lantanian.

The Fifteen Lantanidan tribes were the Lantanian, Cerian, Praseodimian, Neodimian, Promedian, Samar'ian, Eur'pian, Gadolinian, Terbian, Disprosian, Holmian, Erbian, Tulians, Iterbians and Luthe.

The lands of the Lantanidos was known as Lantania, refering this to lands inhabited to Lantanidos rather than a specific geographic territory: Lantania will then originally be in Uslen, and then in the Mercanian Islands, Dol'Sorne, Gorbegea and the Aelian Islands.

History Edit

The Lantanidan tribes set in Uslen around the 11.000 - 9.500 b.a.H., during or after the Drow-Elf wars, having set a sedentary culture that incoporated some Drow cultural elements in the structure of their tribes, constructions and language. It's often discussed among scholars, if the drow influence was a process of acculturation, an element of some early drow domination of which historical records didn't survive, or instead as a reflection of them having enslaved the drow: the study of archeological remains that shows some ethnical and genetical traits of drows -rather important- in the Lantanidan population hadn't made this clear.

The Lantanidan were divivided in their fifteen tribes, organized around a religious elite.

Early Kingdom Edit

The Early Kingdom of the Lantanidos, formed around the Lantanian, was able to subjugate to its rule the other fourteen tribes, forming the Early Kingdom of the Lantanidos.

Coming in contact with the Koyonkos, they began to trade with them, and imitating the Koyonkos, there will surge palaces, centres of religious and political power, marking their apparition the beginning of the civilization of the lantanian, around the 2.750 b.a.H.

In their advance to the north, they came in contact with monsters they described as Nightmares. The King of the Lantanidos, thinking that it will express his power to domesticate such creatures to be his mounts, so he sent the heroes of his palace:

The monsters were creatures of an unknown nature, servants of Argrow and The Wizard -some dispute if Argrow and his servants was a demon or proto-demon-, beginning a war between the Lantanidan and the followers of The Wizard:

The military class, formerly composed only in the Heroes of the Palaces, small palace guards, will come to take a dominant role in the Lantanidan society.

Middle Kingdom Edit

As the war against the Argrowists continued, along with the trade with the Koyonkos, the traditional elite, related to a religious ceremonial power, will shift to the merchants that dominated the trade of bronze and tin with the Koyonko, along with the warrior class of the Palace Heroes.

This will make the Lantanidan increasingly a society ruled by a elite of warrior-traders: While for long the Lantanidan-Koyonko relations made both groups prosper, the costs of the wars against the Argrowists and some resentment against the profits of the traders of the Koyonko city-states, will lead to an invasion of the Koyonko by the Lantanidan.

While they were succesful in the invasion of the Koyonko, rather than fulfill the expectives of a monopoly under Lantanidan traders' control, the trade in the region entered into a cicle of decadence, as the Koyonkos before had an extensive web of trade that was cut by the Lantanidan swords.

With the loss of the Koyonko trade, the middle kingdom of the Lantanidan entered in a crisis, suffering a process of decentralization between the palaces and governors of the tribes.

It was then when the Argrowists attacked, destroying most of the Lantanidan palaces, conquering the region, forcing the surviving Lantanidans to the islands of the shores and to the lands of the Koyonkos.

Late Kingdom and the early Lantanidan Empire Edit

With the loss of the lands in Uslen, the Lantanidans were forced to seek refuge in the islands and among the Koyonkos they conquered: aiming to reclaim the lands from the forces of the followers of Argrow, they knew themselves to be too weak in the moment to reclaim their homelands: so they decided to embrance the situation and became from land warriors and traders, to traders of the seas, as the Koyonko were before.

During this period, living intertangled, the Lantanidans and Koyonkos, there was a process of acculturation of the Lantanidos, who progressively adopted cultural elements of the Koyonkos, such as their writing system, architecture, study of arcane arts, ship building techniques, words and linguistic elements and the Koyonko pantheon, with the adoption of Unnlinne, goddess of sea.

The Lantanidos began to explore, settle and conquer the isles of the sea of Caritz, the peninsula of Praseo -what later will be known as Dol-Sorne by high elves, or Dumia by humans-, the peninsula of Gorbegea and the Alan Isles.

As they conquered new lands and set some Lantanidan tribes, they named the regions after the new settlers, names that often will last much longer than the Lantanidan rule.

In their expansion, under the rule of Perkeo the Tamer, was declared the Imperial rule, creating the Lantanidan Empire.

During their expansion, in several occasions the Lantanidan zuleis had clashed with rossnes elves: This conflict will come to a major conflict when clashed in the northwest of Aels the Confederation of Tribes of the Aiesec and the Lantanidos by the 1700 b.a.H. While the Lantanidan couldn't achieve a decisive military victory over the Aiesec rossnes elves, they largelly came to be under Lantanidan economic influence.
